Summary

The soudano-sahelien zone of Cameroon is exposed in a recurrent manner to risks and catastrophes from varied origin which comes back in actuality as leitmotiv. Today, media and social networks relate almost spontaneously their dangers. Be it from natural or human origin, when these events come , they often bring most disastrous consequences , lead to human and material loss, displacement, destruction or weakening of the populations means of existence. The present contribution of geographers linguists, anthropologists, economists and biologist, analyze through case study the foundations of these events under different angles and give orientations for their prevention and their sustainable management.

The authors

NATALI KOSSOUMNA LIBA’A is a ruralist geographer and teaches in the University of Maroua. He become associate professor from the university paul valery Montpellier 3 (France),his works are based on pastoralism, rural territories, management of natural resources, analysis of agriculture domains.
BERTHIN DJIANGOUE is a doctor /PHD in physical geography, option-planning and environment of the University of Yaoundé 1. He teaches in the geography department of the faculty of letters and human sciences of the University of Maroua. He is interested in questions concerning risks (natural, technological and societal) and adaptation to global change.
WANIE Clarkson MVO received his PhD in Geography from the University of Buea. His area of academic specialization covers Urban and Regional Planning. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geography, Faculty of Letters and Social Sciences, University of Maroua, Cameroon.
