Summary

The eastern region is one of the ten regions of Cameroon, located in the south-east of the country. Its chief town is Bertoua. The majority of its territory is covered with equatorial forest. It is bordered by the southern regions of Adamaoua and the Center. It is a region where misery, distress and disillusionment are the only vestiges inherited by Eastern communities. As for the forest, cocoa and coffee plantations that have succeeded each other throughout history, it should also be noted that in other sectors such as tobacco, the Cameroon Tobacco Company (SCT) did not derogate from this rule. this did not guarantee any development of the localities where it was established. For the populations of the rising sun, the closure of many companies such as: the defunct Belabo Forestry and Industrial Society (SOFI-BEL), the Regional Society of Priority and Integrated Action Zones (Zapi) in East Cameroon (Marketing and coffee machining in the factories of Doume and Nguelemendouka, Belabo center), "is a beautiful dream that ended in tears in the 1980s". In truth, mining companies in eastern Cameroon are most often accused of illegally exploiting forests. This unfortunate situation should serve as a lesson for a new method of managing the fallout from corporate facilities in the rising sun region. The culmination of this work required, on the one hand, the use of a set of methods of analysis and, on the other hand, the use of research techniques for the collection of relevant data.
