Summary

"Funerals in Baby Hearts" is a glimpse into linguistic anthropology. This book highlights the importance of language through ritual ceremonies such as the case of the death of a parent. The funeral is a moment of evocation of the principles that reflect the essential behaviors of members of the baby-friendly community. The funeral begins with the announcement of death and ends with the family council going through several pathetic stages. Despite some harmful aspects of funeral rites, there are cultural and social values that need to be preserved, valued and, if necessary, modernized. The practical case of the funeral of Mr. NDOYENGAR Alphonse NODJIMBANG is a suitable illustration. The theoretical principles chosen for the elaboration of this study are culturalism and social dynamism, it is the framework of the analysis of ritual ceremonies which consists in revealing a relation between the ceremony and the social representation (Moscovici 1976).
