Summary

Dr Castor Osende Afana, economist and nationalist, after his primary and secondary studies in Cameroon and higher studies in France, spent the rest of his short life of 36 years in exile in African countries by sustaining progressist movement or decolonization. His free spirit and his early nationalism made him joined the Cameroon student Association (AEC), he also joined the Federation of black African students in France (FEANF) and the Cameroon people union (UPC) in exile. After fulfilling several diplomatic missions on behave of UPC from 1957 to 1960, he was elected after the death of Felix Roland Moumie in November 1960, member of revolutionary committee of UPC preceded by Ernest Ouandie. In order to re-dynamize the internal rebellion entangled by a merciless repression of Cameroon regime, between 1965-1966 he created a politico-administrative organization called ’’Provisional Bureau of Director committee (BCD)’’, an instrument in charge to open a front rebellion in the East-Cameroon,, from Congo to oblige the regular forces to reduce their pressure on the Kamerun National Liberation Army (ALNK) which was led by Ernest Onandie in the west. Despite his enthusiasm, his courage and is humanitarian and propagandist efforts on the field, he was eliminated very early du to unpreparation, unbalance forces, absence of agreement or coordination between the two fronts and mostly the dissension sources of betrayal within the UPC. It should be understood here that he was an economist forecaster, a faithful administrator in the direction of his movement and a courageous strategist who remained difficult to understand by his friends despite his martial experience.
